Parking brake torsion drive wiring diagram

Rear cable drive sections
1. Make sure the parking brake is fully released.
2. Support the front wheels with wheel chocks, loosen the rear wheel nuts, then jack up the rear of the car and place it on supports.
3. On models equipped with rear drum brakes, remove the brake shoes and disconnect the drive cable from the parking brake actuator lever (see section Replacing the shoes of the rear wheel drum brake mechanisms). Remove the spring from the end of the cable, then unbolt the cable sheath holder from the brake shield. Release the cable assembly from the brake shield.

4. On models with rear disc brakes, remove the locking plate securing the cable to the bracket bolted to the caliper. Release the cable from the forked end of the actuator arm.

5. Unbolt all the brackets of the intermediate cable fastening clamps on the frame and suspension elements.
6. Remove the catalytic converter heat shield.

7. Loosen the nuts securing the cable sheaths located immediately behind the equalizer assembly and release the cable ends from the equalizer.
8. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
9. Adjust the parking brake cable (see section Adjusting the parking brake).
Front section of cable drive
1. Remove the center console (see Chapter Body).

2. Disconnect the wiring of the parking brake warning light switch sensor.

3. Loosen the cable drive adjusting nut.
4. Remove the two bolts from the base of the parking brake control lever.
5. Jack up the rear of the vehicle and support it. Chock the front wheels and remove the catalytic converter heat shield.
6. Loosen the two nuts immediately behind the equalizer assembly and release the rear cable section ends from the equalizer assembly.
7. In the vehicle interior, remove the two bolts securing the cable guide plate and pull the front cable assembly with the equalizer into the vehicle interior.
8. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
9. Adjust the parking brake drive (see section Adjusting the parking brake).
