Rear cable drive sections
1. Make sure that the parking brake is fully released.
2. Chock the front wheels, loosen the rear wheel nuts, then jack up the rear of the vehicle and place it on jack stands.
3. On models equipped with rear wheel drum brakes, remove the brake shoes and disconnect the drive cable from the parking brake actuating lever (see Section Replacement of shoes of drum brake mechanisms of back wheels). Remove the spring from the end of the cable, then unbolt the cable sheath holder from the brake shield. Release the cable assembly from the brake shield.
4. On models with rear disc brakes, remove the retaining plate for attaching the cable to the bracket bolted to the caliper. Release the cable from the forked end of the actuating lever.
5. Loosen all the brackets of the intermediate clamps for attaching the cable to the frame and suspension elements.
6. Remove the thermal shield of the catalytic converter.
7. Loosen the cable sheath fastening nuts located immediately behind the equalizer assembly, release the cable ends from the equalizer.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
9. Adjust parking brake cable (see Section Parking brake adjustment).
Cable drive front section
1. Remove the center console (see chapter Body).
2. Disconnect the electrical wiring of the sensor-switch of the parking brake cocking control lamp.

3. Give an adjusting nut of a cable drive.
4. Remove the two bolts from the base of the parking brake control lever.
5. Jack up the rear of the vehicle and place it on jack stands. Chock the front wheels and remove the catalytic converter heat shield.
6. Loosen the two nuts just behind the equalizer assembly and release the ends of the rear sections of the cable drive from the latter.
7. In the passenger compartment, unscrew the two bolts securing the cable guide plate and retract the front cable assembly with the equalizer into the passenger compartment.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
9. Adjust the parking brake actuator (see Section Parking brake adjustment).
