Caution: You can work on the exhaust system when all parts have cooled down. The catalytic converter temperature can reach 300°C. Always wear protective goggles and gloves. Make sure the vehicle is securely supported with supports.
The exhaust manifold is attached to the cylinder head. The exhaust system's receiving pipe is attached to the manifold. Next comes the catalytic converter, the central pipe of the exhaust system and the main muffler. All elements of the exhaust system are connected using bolts. All parts are available for sale separately for repairs.
Elements of the exhaust system
1 — suspension bracket; 2 - O-ring gasket; 3 - Front muffler pipe suspension; 4 - front exhaust pipe; 5 - gasket; 6 — central pipe of the exhaust system; 7 - main muffler; 8 - rubber suspensions.
Service life of the exhaust tract
The rate of exhaust gas corrosion decreases as exhaust gas temperature decreases. From this point of view, short-distance trips with stops and engine cooling are less harmful than long-term driving with a warm engine and constantly hot exhaust gases. However, when cooling, condensation forms in the mufflers, which, when mixed with combustion products, forms aggressive acids that corrode the metal of the exhaust tract from the inside.

Regardless of the driving mode, moisture entering from the outside causes corrosion. Hitting rocks or driving over uneven surfaces also shortens the life of the exhaust system, as does vibration caused by defective suspension rubber or poor engine mounting.
