Replacing the steering gear cuffs (with power steering) (Nissan Primera P10)

The cuff can be replaced on the installed mechanism.

1. Raise the front of the car and remove the wheel.

2. Disconnect the steering tie rod ball joint from the steering arm.

3. Loosen the lock nut next to the tie rod end and unscrew the end, counting the number of turns to completely remove the end.

4. Loosen the clamps on the inner side of the tie rod and the small clamp on the outer side and remove the sleeve.

5. Put on the new cuff and secure it inside.

6. Screw the tie rod end onto the rod using the same number of turns as when removing it.

7. Attach the tie rod end to the steering arm and tighten the castle nut to 37-46 N·m. Insert a new cotter pin.

8. After installation, check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment.
