General information
The servo steering is also a rack and pinion steering that is driven by pressure from a pump and facilitates the required action on the steering wheel. The servo steering or hydraulic pump is not disassembled, as it is more economical to install replacement or new parts. In the following text, only simple work is described.
Checking the fluid level
When the fluid is cold, unscrew the expansion tank cap and check the level on the dipstick. If the level is outside the "Cold" range (see illustration), you should add liquid (dexron oil). If air has entered the system, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock until the air bubbles in the expansion tank disappear. If you check the level of hot fluid (between 50° and 80°C), the level should be in the "Hot" area.
