Servo steering is also rack and pinion steering, which is actuated by pressure from the pump and facilitates the desired action on the steering wheel. The servo control or hydraulic pump is not dismantled, since it is more economical to install replacement or new parts. The following text describes only simple operations.
Liquid level check
When the liquid is cold, unscrew the cap of the expansion tank and check the level on the dipstick. If the level is outside the area "Cold" (see illustration), add liquid (Dexron oil). If air has got into the system, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock until air bubbles disappear in the compensation tank. If you check the level of hot liquid (between 50°and 80°C), the level must lie in the region "Hot".
