Transfer of control over the operation of on-board power consumers via switched lines (Nissan Maxima A32)

The vehicles considered in this Manual are equipped with a large number of on-board consumers of electrical energy. In order to reduce the volume of connecting electrical wiring, the possibility of switching consumer control signals is provided.

The switching system consists of an on-board control module (OCM) located under the front of the floor console and five local control units (LCUs) scattered throughout the vehicle. The system components are interconnected by two buses (A and B).

Some of the consumers are connected directly to the VSM, others are connected to local units, which control the switching on and off of the equipment. The consumers controlled by the system include the electric window drive, the single lock, interior lighting, control lamps, anti-theft alarm, etc.

The VSM also performs a self-diagnostic function for the system; in the event of a failure, the vehicle should be taken to a branded service station to have the fault codes read.
