On 4-cylinder engines
1. Lubricate the oil seal, put it on the crankshaft and carefully press it in with a mandrel or with light blows on the soft spacer.
On V6 engines
2. Mark the depth of the old seal and remove the seal from the holder (photo).

3. Clean the gland and lubricate the outer lip. Press the oil seal with a mandrel, or through two wooden bars, holding the oil seal between the bars in a vise. Can also be pressed with hammer blows through the bar (photo). The gland must fit into the holder without distortion.

4. Lubricate the working edges of the stuffing box and install the holder on a new gasket, lubricating the area under the holder with sealant (photo). Tighten the bolts.
