Note: The following procedures require a special coil spring compressor tool.
Removal
Front Suspension Coil Spring Components
1 - bolts; 2 - lid; 3 - nut; 4 - compression stroke limiter; 5 - insulator; 6 - spring
1. Jack up the front of the car and place it on supports placed under the chassis frame.
2. Loosen the compression limiter cover mounting bolts and remove the cover.
3. Loosen the compression stroke limiter mounting nut and leave the limiter resting against the lower spring seat.
4. Using a special tool, compress the coil spring enough to allow it to be removed.
5. Remove the spring, compression stop and upper rubber isolator from the vehicle.
6. Inspect the spring for cracks, signs of deformation and weakening of the force developed. If possible, compare the length of the spring with a new one.
7. Check the compression stroke limiter for damage and signs of material aging.
Installation
Installation is carried out in reverse order.
Make sure that the upper spring seat is positioned correctly and the compression stroke stop is inside the spring.
