Security measures (Nissan Qashqai J10)

When performing checks or maintenance on your vehicle, always exercise caution to avoid serious injury or damage to your vehicle. The following are general safety precautions that must be followed at all times.

Attention.

• The vehicle must be parked on a level, horizontal surface with the parking brake fully engaged. Additionally, place wheel chocks under the wheels to prevent the vehicle from accidentally moving off the surface. The manual transmission control lever must be in neutral. Vehicles with automatic transmission and continuously variable transmission: set the selector to position "P" (Parking).
• Do not carry out any work in the engine compartment while the engine is hot. Turn off the engine and wait until it cools down.
• Before making any repairs or replacing parts, make sure the ignition switch is in the "OFF" or "LOCK" position. If the ignition key is left in the "ON" ("Ignition ON") or "ACC" ("Auxiliary Power Consumers") position, the electric fan may start unexpectedly even when the engine is not running and cause injury. To avoid injury when working on or near the engine, be sure to disconnect the "negative" cable from the battery.
• If any inspection must be performed with the engine running, always keep hands, clothing, hair or tools a safe distance from rotating and moving parts (fan blades, pulleys, belts).
• Before work, it is recommended to remove your tie, as well as rings, watches, chains and similar items.
• If you must run the engine in an enclosed area, such as a garage, you must provide adequate ventilation to remove exhaust gases from the area.
• It is prohibited to stand under a vehicle if it is supported only by a jack. If it is necessary to stand under the vehicle, install additional supports designed for the appropriate load.
• Do not smoke or bring sources of fire or sparks close to fuel containers or the battery.
• Do not disconnect or connect battery cables or any other components with the ignition on.
• Never disconnect the electrical connectors of engine-or gearbox-related components when the ignition is switched on (the "ON" position of the ignition switch).
• If the vehicle is equipped with a gasoline engine with a multipoint fuel injection (MFI) system, the fuel lines and fuel filter must be serviced by an authorized Nissan dealer, as these operations may be dangerous. The fuel system was under excessive pressure even when the engine was not running.
• Always wear safety glasses when working on your vehicle.
• Failure to follow the safety precautions described above may result in serious injury to persons or damage to the vehicle.
• Failure to properly dispose of engine oil and other operating fluids will result in environmental pollution. Always follow local regulations for disposal of used operating fluids.
