Operations outside the vehicle
Doors, tailgate and hood
Check that all doors, tailgate and hood close properly. Check the function of all locks. Lubricate hinges, latches, locks and stops on all doors and hood as needed. Make sure that the safety latch performs its function properly and does not allow opening the hood after unlocking the main hood lock. If the car is operated on roads that are treated with salt compounds, then the friction units mentioned above should be lubricated regularly.
Lighting and light signaling devices*
Clean your headlights regularly. Check the reliability of fastening and serviceability of all lighting and light signaling devices: headlights, brake lights, side lights, direction indicators, etc. In addition, check the headlight adjustment.
Windshield
Clean your windshield regularly. At least once every six months, check the windshield for cracks or other damage. Have a damaged windshield replaced only by an Authorized Nissan Dealer.
Windshield wipers*
If the quality of windshield cleaning has deteriorated, inspect the wiper blades, paying attention to the presence of cracks and signs of wear on the rubber elements.
Tires*
Check tire pressure with a pressure gauge each time you fill up your vehicle with fuel (including spare wheel). Adjust air pressure if necessary. Carefully inspect the tires, paying attention to the presence of damage, cuts and signs of heavy wear.
Wheel swap*
Nissan recommends changing the wheels every 10,000 km for a non-4WD vehicle and every 5,000 km for a 4WD vehicle. However, the exact value of the interchange interval depends on your driving style and road conditions.
Operations performed in the engine compartment and under the bottom of the vehicle
The checkpoints listed below should be carried out periodically (at the same time as checking the engine oil level or each time the vehicle is refueled).
Accumulator battery*
Check the electrolyte level in each section of the battery. The electrolyte level must be between the marks «MAX» And «MIN» on the battery case. If the vehicle is operated at high temperatures or under severe conditions, the intervals between checks must be reduced.
Brake and Clutch Fluid*
Make sure the fluid level is between the marks «MIN» And «MAX», which are applied to the wall of the reservoir of the main brake cylinder and hydraulic clutch.
Engine coolant level*
Check the coolant level on a cold engine.
Drive belts for mounted implements of the drill*
Check that the drive belts are not worn, damaged, cracked or oily.
Engine oil level*
Stop the vehicle on a level surface, turn off the engine and check the engine oil level after 10 minutes.
Fluid leaks
Check for signs of leakage of fuel, oil, coolant and other fluids under the vehicle after a long period of parking. Water dripping from the air conditioner after turning it off is not a malfunction. If you see any leaks of working fluids or obvious vapors of gasoline, find out the cause of this and eliminate it immediately.
Windshield washer fluid*
Check if there is enough fluid in the washer reservoir.
Operations performed inside the vehicle
The following operations should be performed regularly (e.g. at the same time as servicing or washing and cleaning the car).
Accelerator pedal
Check the pedal for smoothness and make sure that it does not stick when pressed and does not require increased effort to depress the pedal. Make sure that the floor mat does not get under the pedal.
Brake pedal*
Check the pedal for smooth operation and make sure there is sufficient clearance between the pedal and the floor when fully depressed. Check the operation of the brake booster. Make sure that the floor mat does not get under the pedal.
Parking brake*
Check the travel of the parking brake pedal/lever.
Seat belts
Check the fastening and ensure that the seat belts function properly (locks, regulators and inertial coils). The belt must be wound and pulled out of the inertial reel smoothly and without jamming. Inspect the belts for cuts, wear, or other damage.
Steering
Check for steering wheel play, smoothness of rotation and force on the steering wheel, and for signs of extraneous noise when turning the steering wheel.
Visual and audible alarms and indicators
Verify that all warning lights and indicators are functioning properly.
Windscreen heater
Make sure that the air from the heater is supplied in the right direction and in sufficient quantity, both when the heater is operating and when the air conditioner is operating.
Windshield wiper and washer*
Make sure the wiper and washer are working properly and that the cleaner does not leave uncleaned streaks during operation.
