Battery
Use only 12V battery.
Do not disconnect or connect battery cables while the engine is running.
Engine control unit
Do not disassemble the engine control unit.
Do not apply excessive force when turning the diagnostic mode selector.
When measuring ECM signals with a tester, do not short-circuit the probes. A short circuit can damage the power transistors of the unit.
When the battery is disconnected, the ECM memory is reset and it will use the preset values when turned on. However, the engine performance may change slightly, which is not a sign of a malfunction and should not be a reason for replacing parts.
When connecting the ECM connector in the CD20E engine, tighten the retaining bolt until the gap between the orange indicators disappears (tightening torque is 3-5 Nm).

Electronically controlled injection pump (CD20K)
Do not disconnect the fuel injection pump connectors while the engine is running.
Do not disassemble the injection pump except for removing the camshaft position sensor, injection start angle control valve and fuel shut-off valve.
Injection system parts
Do not disassemble injector No.1 (with built-in needle lift sensor). If the injector is faulty, replace it as an assembly.
Protect the crankshaft position sensor from impact.
Starting the engine
Do not press the accelerator pedal when starting the engine.
Do not increase engine speed unnecessarily immediately after starting.
Do not increase engine speed immediately before stopping.
Installation of radio equipment
When installing a CB radio or mobile phone, please observe the following requirements:
- The antenna should be located as far away from the ECM as possible.
- The antenna feeder must be located at least 20 cm away from the wires related to the electronic control system and not run parallel to them over a long distance.
- The antenna and feeder must be adjusted to minimize the standing wave ratio.
- The body of the radio station must be connected to the body ground.
Electrical connectors
- Securely fix the connectors. Poor contact can cause a surge in voltage on the coil and capacitor, which will damage the integrated circuits.
- Keep the ECM wire harness at least 10 cm away from adjacent wires to avoid interference.
- Do not allow moisture to come into contact with connectors and electronic control system components.
- Before disconnecting connectors, turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
