Warning! Wait until the engine has cooled down completely before proceeding with the procedures! See also the warning at the beginning of the Section Relieving pressure in the fuel system.
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Warning! If the car stereo system is equipped with a security code, make sure you have the correct combination to activate the audio system before disconnecting the battery!
2. Disconnect the air cleaner outlet pipe from the air intake duct or throttle body.
3. Disconnect the throttle position sensor (TPS) wiring from the throttle body (see Chapter Engine management systems). Also label and disconnect all vacuum hoses.
4. Disconnect the throttle cables (see section Removal, installation and adjusting the accelerator cable) and, if the vehicle is equipped accordingly, a cruise control.
5. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the throttle body. To minimize coolant loss, immediately plug the open ends of the lines.

6. Remove the throttle body mounting bolts. On 1993 and 1994 models, remove the intake air duct. Remove the throttle body with the gasket. Scrape off any traces of the old gasket material from the mating surfaces of the throttle body and the intake manifold plenum.
7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Do not forget to replace the sealing gasket. Finally, adjust the gas and cruise control cables (see section Removal, installation and adjusting the accelerator cable). Check the coolant level and make the appropriate adjustments if necessary (see Chapter Settings and ongoing maintenance).
