Drive shaft seals
1. Oil seals are located on both sides of the gearbox housing at the points where the drive shafts are inserted into them. Jack up the car and place it on jack stands. A sign of oil leakage through the stuffing box is streaks on the walls of the gearbox housing directly under the corresponding drive shaft.
2. Remove the drive shaft (s) (see chapter Clutch and drive shafts).
3. Using a special tool, a pry bar, or a large flat-blade screwdriver, remove the old oil seal from its seat in the transmission case.
4. Using a socket head of the appropriate size or a piece of pipe of a suitable diameter as a mandrel, seat a new oil seal in its regular place. Make sure that the gland is planted in the socket strictly perpendicular and to the full depth.
Note. The mandrel should rest only on the hard outer edge of the end face of the stuffing box.
5. Lubricate the oil seal lips with gear oil.
6. Reinstall the drive shaft (s), - try not to damage the lips of the new oil seal (ov).
Sealing ring of landing of the sensor of speed (speedometer drive assembly)
1. Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) fixed on the crankcase of the manual transmission. Inspect the crankcase for signs of oil leakage through the sensor seat/speedometer drive assembly o-ring.
2. Disconnect from VSS electroconducting, then give a clamping bolt and take assembly of a drive of a speedometer in gathering with the gauge from a transmission.
3. Using a scriber or a screwdriver with a thin sting, remove the sealing ring from the removed assembly (it is best to use a device in the form of a thin rod bent at the end).
4. Fit a new O-ring into the groove on the speedometer drive gear housing, after lightly lubricating it with gear oil.
5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
Gland of a rod of management of a drive of a gear change
1. Jack up the car and put it on stands.
2. Disconnect the shift control rod from the fork clamp (see Section Removal and installation of components of a drive of a gear change).
3. Knock out the roll pin and remove the clevis and dust cover.
4. Remove the control rod gland from its seat.
5. Put a new oil seal in place of the removed one.
6. Replace the dust boot and the connecting fork clamp, secure the latter with a cylindrical pin.
7. Connect the control rod (see Section Removal and installation of components of a drive of a gear change).
8. Lower the vehicle to the ground.
