Shock absorber strut elements
1 - steering knuckle; 2 — shock absorber strut (housing); 3 - spring; 4 - rubber cushion (buffer); 5 - rubber pad; 6 — upper spring cup; 7 — bearing; 8 - thrust bearing; 9 - seal; 10 — lid.
Disassembly
- If it has not already been removed, remove the steering knuckle.
- Clamp the strut in a vice using a special fixture, then loosen the shock absorber rod nut.
- Do not completely remove the stem nut.

- Compress the spring using a special device until the rubber element of the upper support can be turned by hand.

Caution: When compressing the spring, make sure the compressor is securely attached to the spring.
- After unscrewing the shock absorber rod nut, remove the inner elements of the shock absorber strut one by one.
Caution: When removing parts from the shock absorber, make sure that the piston rod is not damaged.

- Remove the spring compressor along with the spring.

- Remove the limiting buffer from the upper spring cup.
- Remove the shock absorber strut and the special device for securing it from the vice.
- Check the shock absorber components.
Shock absorber

- Check the smoothness of the piston rod movement during full compression and extension. Check for oil leaks through the rod seal and welds.
- The rod must not have any deformations, cracks or other damage. Replace or repair the shock absorber if necessary.
Upper support of the rack
There should be no cracks or other signs of damage on the rubber elements. The rubber should not peel off.
Thrust bearing
When the bearing rotates, there should be no extraneous noise or excessive axial play. Replace the bearing if necessary.
Coil spring
Check the spring for deformations, cracks and other damage. Replace the spring if necessary.
Note: The springs on the front suspension must be of the same class.
Assembly
Caution: When installing parts on the shock absorber strut, make sure that the piston rod is not damaged.
- Install a special mounting device on the shock absorber strut and secure the strut in a vice.
- Install the rubber spring pad onto the strut.
- Using a special compressor, compress the spring and install it on the shock absorber strut.
- Point the spring side with the tube down. Align the lower end of the spring with the recess in the rubber pad as shown in the figure.

- Install the buffer on the upper spring cup.
- Install the upper spring cup, bearing, thrust bearing, seal and cover.
- The installation position of the upper spring cup is shown in the figure.

1 - cut; A - left shock absorber strut; B - right shock absorber strut.
- Secure the shock absorber seal, then tighten the piston rod locknut to 59-88 N·m. Be careful not to deform the insulator mounting bracket.
- Gradually release the compressor and remove it from the spring. When loosening the compressor, make sure that its position does not change.
- Remove the special tool from the shock absorber strut.
