Checking the exhaust system (Nissan Murano Z50)

Check on a cold engine (at least three hours after the trip) the entire exhaust system, starting from the engine and ending with the exhaust pipe. Ideally, the inspection should be carried out with the vehicle raised on a lift to allow unimpeded access to its underside. If you don't have a lift, raise the car with a jack and secure it on stands.
Check the exhaust system pipes and connections for obvious leaks, severe corrosion and damage. Make sure all brackets, clamps and mounting hooks are in good condition and tightly tightened.
At the same time, check the underbody for holes, corrosion, broken seams, etc., which could allow exhaust gases to enter the passenger compartment. Seal all body openings with silicone or body filler.
Check the heat shields around the rear of the catalytic converter.
The exhaust system, especially the mounts, hooks and heat shields, often produces rattling and other noises. Wiggle the pipes, muffler and catalytic converter. Both the main and rear mufflers must be securely attached to their mounting brackets.
If parts may contact body or suspension components, secure the exhaust system with new fasteners.
Assess the engine's operating condition (engine operating conditions), by checking the inner surface of the end of the exhaust pipe. Solid residue deposited on it is a sign of engine misalignment. If the pipe is black and covered with soot or white deposits, then the engine may need to be adjusted, including a thorough inspection of the fuel system (fuel system).
