15.1 Camshaft bearing surface
2. Measure the diameters of the bearing journals and camshaft supports, determine the gaps (photo). Compare the results with the standard. If at least one of the dimensions does not correspond to the standard, replace the cylinder head, camshaft, or both of these parts.
15.2 Measuring the bearing neck
3. Check the camshaft runout (photo). If the runout is not within the norm, replace the camshaft.
15.3 Checking the camshaft runout
4. Check the wear of the cams by measuring their size and subtracting the standard (photo). If the wear exceeds the standard, replace the camshaft.
15.4 Checking camshaft cam wear
5. Check the condition of the hydraulic tappet surface (photo).
15.5 Test surfaces of hydraulic tappet
6. Check the diameter of the tappet and the mating hole in the housing (photo). Replace the tappet or housing if their wear exceeds the norm.
15.6a Check the tappet diameter...
15.6b... and holes for the pusher in the body
7. Check the clearance between the tappet and the hole, which should be within the norm if both parts are not worn. It is recommended to replace the tappet and the housing together, based on the clearance size.
8. Check the diameters of the shaft and holes in the rocker arms, determine the gaps (photo). If the diameters and gaps differ from the norm, replace the shaft and rocker arms.
