1. Measure the thickness of the brake disc and check that nowhere the difference in thickness exceeds 0.07 mm (see illustration). If there is suspicion that the disc is warped, it can be reinstalled with the hub on the steering knuckle. Before checking, adjust the wheel bearings.
2. Install a dial indicator on the steering knuckle (illustration) and rest the dipstick against the outer edge of the brake disc. Slowly rotate the brake disc and read the gauge. If the value exceeds 0.07 mm, it can be assumed that the disc is deformed. The installation of the hub and brake disc has already been described in Chapter Suspension and steering. Tighten the hub and wheel nut with the vehicle on the ground.
