1. Measure the thickness of the brake disc and check that the difference in thickness does not exceed 0.07 mm anywhere (see illustration). If there is a suspicion that the disc is warped, it can be reinstalled with the hub on the steering knuckle. Before checking, adjust the hub bearings.
2. Install a dial indicator on the steering knuckle (illustration) and rest the feeler gauge against the outer edge of the brake disc. Slowly rotate the brake disc and read the instrument readings. If the value exceeds 0.07 mm, it can be assumed that the disc is deformed. Installing the hub and brake disc has already been described in Chapter Suspension and steering. Tighten the hub and wheel nut while the vehicle is on the ground.
