All models covered in this manual are equipped with a dual circuit brake system with front disc and rear drum brakes if a carbureted engine is installed, and all disc brakes if an injection engine is installed. Since certain models are equipped with ABS, attention should be paid to the connections of the brake pipes when carrying out work in which the pipes are disconnected. The front disc brakes are equipped with floating calipers, which are used on most modern models. The floating caliper has only one piston, instead of two on previous calipers. The models described in this publication are equipped with two versions of disc brakes. All brakes are self-adjusting. The system has a control valve to adjust the brake pressure on the wheels. On installed drum brakes this valve is located on the inside of the wheel brake cylinders, on disc brakes two separate valves are installed (see illustrations). The handbrake acts through a cable on the rear wheels. The system has a brake booster.
