Attention:
Before removing or installing, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, and wait at least 3 minutes. This is necessary to discharge the electrical charge inside the auxiliary power circuit of the airbag sensor.
The seat belt pretensioner wiring connectors are yellow.
To disconnect the pretensioner connectors, remove all seat belt anchors.
Do not damage the seat belt pretensioner by welding, etc. Also, make sure that the wiring is not bent or touches other parts.
When installing the seat belt pretensioner, short the connector or remove the intermediate wiring connector, see chapter Additional passive safety system.
Do not expose the pretensioner to high temperatures (over 80°C).
Do not hit or drop the pretensioner. If dropped, the pretensioner should be replaced.
Do not allow oil, grease, water, etc. to come into contact with the pretensioner.
If foreign particles get into the connector, do not remove them with a screwdriver or similar tool (to avoid damage from static electricity).

Preparatory work
Remove the upper and lower B-pillar trim.
Attention:
- After completing the work, check the correct operation of the seat belt pretensioners. If a malfunction is detected, diagnose the system and troubleshoot.
- After the pretensioner has been triggered, replace it as an assembly. For more detailed information on pretensioner diagnostics, see the Supplemental Passive Restraint System chapter.
