Checking the functionality of control lamps
After turning the ignition key to the ON position, the serviceability of the indicator lamps is checked, which light up or go out as indicated in the table:
If any lamp lights up or goes out in a manner not consistent with the table provided, contact a service station.
1. Low oil pressure warning light
This lamp lights up when the engine is running if the engine oil pressure drops.
Warning: If this light comes on, immediately park in a safe place, turn off the engine and contact a service station.
Note: The indicator lamp does not indicate the engine oil level.
2. Engine malfunction indicator light
This lamp lights up while the engine is running if there is a malfunction in the electronic engine management system (the light is on continuously on petrol models and flashes on diesel models).
* Fuel filter water level indicator light (models with diesel engine)
This lamp lights up while the engine is running if water accumulates in the fuel filter.
3. Battery discharge indicator light
This lamp lights up with the engine running if there is a malfunction in the battery charging system.
4. Brake system indicator lamp
(Data posted on the website: «NISSANBOOK.RU»)
This lamp comes on after turning the ignition key to the ON position in the following cases:
- When setting the vehicle to the parking brake.
- When the brake fluid level is insufficient.
Note:
Always release the parking brake before starting to move.
If the warning light remains on, move the vehicle to a safe location and contact a service station. If braking efficiency has decreased, press the brake pedal with greater force and stop the vehicle.
5. Low fuel level indicator light
This lamp lights up to inform the driver of low (approx. 12 l) fuel level in the tank (ignition key in the ON position).
6. Seat belt warning light
This light comes on if the driver's seat belt is not fastened (ignition key in the ON position).
7. Open door indicator light
If any door (including the back door) not closed tightly, the control lamp lights up (ignition key in the ON position).
8. ABS system indicator light
this lamp lights up after turning the ignition key to the ON position and goes out after about 1 second.
The lamp lights up when a malfunction occurs in the ABS electronic control system (ignition key in the ON position).
Attention: If the lamp does not light after turning the ignition key to the ON position or lights up after starting the engine or while driving, have it diagnosed at a service station.
Note:
If the warning light is on, the ABS system is not working, but the braking system continues to work as normal without ABS. In this case, the wheels may lock up during sudden braking or when braking on a slippery road.
It may happen that when you start the engine by turning the ignition key sharply, the indicator lamp lights up and does not go out. In this case, turn off the engine, then start it again by turning the key smoothly.
9. Airbag warning light
After turning the ignition key to the ON position, the lamp lights up for approximately 7 seconds and then goes out.
If there is a fault with the airbag or seat belt pretensioner system, the warning light will either flash or remain on continuously (ignition key in the ON position).
