Removing
1. Loosen the nuts on the appropriate front wheel. Jack up the front of the car and place it on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
2. Disconnect the anti-roll bar from the control arm (see Section Removal and installation of the front anti-roll bar). On models 1993 and 1994 issue remove the stabilizer bar (see ibid).
3. On 1993 and 1994 models. issue unbolt the ball joint from the suspension control arm. On models since 1995, no. remove the cotter pin and loosen the ball stud nut. Using a special fork puller, release the ball pin from the steering knuckle assembly.
Note. In the process of releasing the ball pin, the protective cover of the support will almost certainly be damaged. Separate the lever from the steering knuckle assembly.
4. If the suspension control arm needs to be replaced, loosen the linkage bushing pin nut. Turn out bolts of a finger of the plug.
5. Turn out bolts of fastening of the holder of the plug, then remove the control lever. On models 1993 and 1994 issue if necessary, remove the lever gusset.
Examination
1. Evaluate the condition of the front and rear rubber bushings of the control lever - worn and cracked components must be replaced. The installation of new bushings must be carried out in a car service workshop, otherwise the lever assembly must be replaced.
2. Check the lever housing for signs of deformation. A damaged lever cannot be repaired and must be replaced.
Installation
Installation is in the reverse order. Make sure all fasteners are tightened to the correct torque.
Note. Tightening the hub pin and front hub retainer bolts (as well as lever gussets on 1993 and 1994 models. issue) must be done in a specific order. Before finally tightening the retainer bolts or pin nut, support the outer end of the lever with a jack to bring it to normal working height. Don't forget to replace the cotter pin on the ball stud nut.
