Attention! Proceed with the procedure only after the final cooling of the power unit.
Removing
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Attention! If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system! Jack up the car and place it on jack stands.
2. Saturate manifold fasteners with penetrating oil.
3. Working under the vehicle, disconnect the Y-pipe from the exhaust manifolds ("trousers") exhaust systems (see chapter Power and exhaust systems).
Front manifold (from the side of the radiator)
1. Remove the intake duct assembly from the throttle body with the upper half of the air cleaner housing (see chapter Power and exhaust systems).
2. Disconnect the EGR socket from the exhaust manifold.
3. In order to provide access to the manifold fasteners, remove the mounting bracket for the guide tube of the dipstick for measuring the level of impellent oil. Give the top row of fixing nuts.
4. Moving from the edges to the center, give the bottom row of fasteners and remove the manifold from the engine.
Rear manifold (from the bulkhead of the engine compartment)
Working under the car, give fixing nuts and remove a collector.
Installation
1. Carefully inspect the manifolds and their fasteners, checking the components for cracks, deformations and other mechanical damage.
2. Scrape off carbon deposits and traces of the old gasket material from the mating surfaces of the manifolds and cylinder heads. If there were exhaust gas leaks, evaluate the flatness of the mating surfaces of the collectors (use an edge-mounted steel ruler and a blade-type feeler gauge). Compare the measurement results with the requirements of the Specifications, if necessary, turn the collectors into a groove.
3. Put new gaskets on the header studs.
4. Install the manifolds and tighten the nuts of their fastening.
5. Working from the center outward, tighten the fastener evenly to the required torque in three or four steps.
6. Install the remaining components in the reverse order of their dismantling. Be sure to replace the gaskets when connecting the exhaust pipe to the front manifold.
7. Start the engine and check it for signs of exhaust gas leaks.
