2. Check the shaft for cracks and dents. Replace the shaft if any damage is found.
3. Check for leakage from under the oil seals of the output shaft of the gearbox and the rear axle gearbox.
4. Turning the wheel, check the noise and play in the cardan joints.
5. To check the play in the hinges, turn the shaft with the wheel fixed, or. rock the shaft in the transverse direction. Any play indicates wear on the universal joints.

6. Check up an inhaling of bolts of fastening of flanges of a cardan shaft.
7. Similarly check up a condition of a forward shaft of hinges (on 4x4 vehicles).
8. Check that there is no leakage from the transfer case seal.
9. Check the condition of the CV joints, covers and axle shaft seals (photo), the condition of the clamps of the covers. A leak on the front gearbox indicates damage to the inner oil seal, and a leak near the wheel indicates damage to the front hub oil seal.
