1. Check "These assemblies are recommended to be combined with any procedure that raises the front of the vehicle.
2. Signs of a malfunction in the steering and suspension are increased steering play, strong body tilt when cornering, body vibration when driving on rough roads, steering wheel sticking when turning.
3. Check the operation of the shock absorbers, for which several times sharply press each corner of the car and release it. If after one or two presses the car body does not return to its original position, this indicates the failure of the shock absorbers and the need to replace them. When pressing and releasing the car, listen for the sounds that the suspension parts make.
4. Raise the front of the car and place on stands.
5. Check up a condition of all fastenings, and also leaks from the steering mechanism and shock-absorbers.
6. Clean and check the integrity of the ball joint seals and tie rod ends.
7. Check the play of the bearings by shaking the wheel in a vertical plane. If there is noticeable play, adjust the bearings.
8. Ask an assistant to shake the wheel in a horizontal plane, observing the ball joints and tie rod ends. Carefully check the play of all ball joints connecting the bipod to the side rods, swingarm and center tie rod. The pendulum arm is bolted to the frame. Check the tightness of all fasteners first.
9. Check the play in the steering mechanism, for which, while holding the bipod, turn the steering wheel (performed with an assistant). Moving the rudder while the bipod is stationary indicates wear on the steering gear. If play is observed only in the position of the wheels corresponding to driving in a straight line, then the worm of the steering gear is worn out. Oil leaks also indicate gear wear. In this case, the gearbox must be removed for inspection and repair.
10. Check the play on the rim of the steering wheel, which should not exceed 35 mm. Increased play indicates wear on the hinges and steering gear.
11. Check the condition of the rear suspension parts (rubber bushings, fasteners, etc.).
