Replacing transmission fluid in an automatic transmission (Nissan Terrano 1)

1. Take a short drive (15-20 min) to warm the fluid up to operating temperature.

2. Prepare the recommended brand of liquid.

3. Prepare a tray of the required capacity to receive the liquid, rags and stands.

4. Raise the vehicle and place it on stands.

5. Remove the rear and side transmission oil pan bolts (working with gloves).

6. Loosen the front bolts 4 turns.

7. Carefully lift and move the tray, drain the liquid into a container without loss.

8. Unscrew the remaining bolts and remove the pan, remove the remaining seal.

9. Clean the tray from any remaining sealing material.

10. Apply sealant to the new gasket from the crankcase plane side.

11. Apply sealant to the other side of the gaskets, install the gasket and tighten the bolts evenly to the specified torque.

12. Lower the vehicle. Fill with fluid equal to the amount drained.

13. Move the selector to position P and apply the handbrake. Start the engine and let it idle.

14. Move the selector to all positions and check the fluid level, top up if necessary (see above)

15. Take a short drive and check for leaks.
