Rear oil seal — replacement (Nissan Terrano 1)

1. The oil seal can be replaced without removing the oil pan and crankshaft.

2. Remove the transmission (Chapter 7).

3. Remove the clutch.

4. Remove the flywheel or torque converter drive plate.

5. Pry up and carefully remove the seal.

6. Check the condition of the sealing journal of the crankshaft. If deep wear or other defects are found on the journal, replace the crankshaft.

7. Lubricate the seal with engine oil, lubricate the working edges with molybdenum grease.

8. Put on the seal and carefully press it in by hitting the spacer with a hammer.

9. Install the flywheel or torque converter drive plate.

10. Install the clutch and reinforcement plate.

11. Install the transmission.
