Removal and installation the upper part of the oil pan of a 2.0L diesel engine (M9R) (Nissan Qashqai J10)

Removal

1. Remove the lower oil pan and oil pickup.

2. Remove the rear oil seal holder.

3. Remove the upper part of the oil pan:

Unscrew the mounting bolts in the reverse order shown in the figure.



Install two studs (A), two washers (B) and two nuts (C) in place of the upper oil pan mounting bolts.

Note: Use M8x90mm studs.

Disconnect the upper part of the oil pan from the cylinder block, gradually tightening the nuts. Remove the upper part of the oil pan.

4. Remove the oil pump parts.

5. Install the oil pump and oil pump deflector:

Install the oil pump (1), oil pump deflector (2), drive chain and sprocket.





Tighten the oil pump mounting bolts (A) in two stages: first to a tightening torque of 5.0 Nm, then to 25.0 Nm.

Tighten the oil pump deflector mounting bolt (B) to 8.0 Nm.

Installing the top of the oil pan

1. Using a scraper (A), remove the remains of the old sealant from the contact surfaces of the upper oil pan and cylinder heads, as well as the bolt holes and threads.

Caution: Be careful not to scratch or rotate the contact surfaces when removing old sealant.

Using a special gun, apply a continuous bead of sealant (a) with a diameter of 3.0-7.0 mm, as shown in the figure.

Note.

• Use original sealant or equivalent.
• On the five bolt holes marked with triangles in the figure, the sealant must be applied on the inside.
• Installation must be completed within five minutes after applying the sealant.

7. Tighten the mounting bolts in two stages in the sequence shown in the figure:

• First stage: 10.0 Nm.
• Second stage: 25.0 Nm.

8. Install the rear oil seal holder.

9. Install the remaining parts in the reverse order of removal.

Note: Fill the engine with engine oil half an hour after installing the oil pan.
