Solenoid valve on "Phase II" models with 2.0L engine
The solenoid valve is mounted on the main intake manifold mounting bracket.
The control solenoid valve is mounted on the rear side of the intake manifold on 1.6L models and on the left or lower side of the intake manifold on 2.0L models.
To improve access to the solenoid valve on 1.6L models, remove the air cleaner housing
On 2.0L models, raise the front of the vehicle and support it on stands to gain access to the valve from underneath the vehicle (if necessary).
Replacement
1. To replace the solenoid valve, disconnect the negative battery cable, then squeeze the retaining clip and disconnect the valve connection connector.
2. Remember or mark the installation position of all hoses on the valve. To avoid connecting hoses incorrectly during installation, mark each of the hoses and fittings when removing.
3. Release the clamps (if installed) and disconnect the hoses from the valve, then remove the valve from the mounting bracket.
4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. When installing, check that the hoses are connected correctly.
