Examination
1. If you think the system is faulty, disconnect the hoses from the air inlet solenoid control valve and check that they are not clogged by blowing them out. The solenoid valve is located on the left side of the intake manifold and the air inlet valve is located on the left front suspension mount.
2. The solenoid valve can be checked as follows. If desired, the valve can be removed following the instructions in subsection 6.4.2.6.1 to improve access.
3. Connect a 12 volt power supply to the solenoid valve as shown in the illustration for models with a carbureted engine and a catalytic converter. Blow into the nozzle "A" - air must pass through the valve and exit through the nozzle "IN". Blow into the nozzle "IN" and check that no air is passing through the valve.
4. If the solenoid valve does not work as expected, then it is defective and needs to be replaced.
5. To check the air inlet valve, first remove it following the instructions in subsection 6.4.2.6.2, then check it as follows.
6. Blow into the nozzle "IN" and check that the valve is not leaking air. Bleed the air out of the pipe "A" and blow into the pipe "IN" - air must pass through the valve and exit the nozzle "WITH". Blow into the nozzle "WITH" and check that air does not pass through the valve in both cases, there is on the nozzle "A" vacuum or not.
7. If the valve does not work as expected, then it is defective and needs to be replaced.
Control solenoid valve
The control solenoid valve is installed on the left side of the intake manifold.
Replacement
1. The control solenoid valve is installed on the left side of the intake manifold.
2. To replace the solenoid valve, disconnect the negative battery cable. Then, squeeze the mounting clip and disconnect the valve connection connector.
3. Note the installation position of all hoses on the valve. In order not to confuse them during installation, mark each of the hoses and pipes when removing.
4.Release the clamps (if installed) and disconnect the hoses from the valve.
5. Remove the valve from the mounting bracket and remove it from the engine compartment.
6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. When installing, check that the hoses are connected correctly.
7. If the valve does not work as expected, then it is defective and needs to be replaced.
Air inlet valve
Bolts for attaching hoses to the valve are indicated by arrows.
The air inlet valve is mounted on the left front suspension strut mount.
Replacement
1. Loosen the clamps to replace the valve (if installed) and disconnect the hoses from the valve.
2. Turn off fixing bolts and remove the valve.
3. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. When installing, check the correct connection of the hoses and secure them with clamps (if it is needed).
