Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Components - 1.6L Models (other models are similar)
1. Recirculation tube
2. Back pressure valve tube
3. Vacuum tube
4. Fastening nuts
Replacement
1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the EGR valve, which is mounted on the left side of the intake manifold. If necessary, remove the air cleaner to improve access to the valve. On some models, access can be improved by also removing the backpressure valve (see subsection 6.4.2.4.2).
2. Loosen the union nuts and disconnect the recirculation tube and the backpressure valve tube from the recirculation valve.
3. Loosen and remove the two mounting nuts/bolts and washers and remove the valve from the intake manifold. Remove the gasket and discard it.
4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Use a new gasket when installing.
