Idle speed control valve
Idle speed control valve (indicated by an arrow) mounted on the base of the air filter housing.
Examination
1. Remove the air filter cover and filter following the instructions in subsection 6.1.2, to gain access to the valve.
2. The operation of the valve can be checked with a thermometer and a hair dryer. Position the thermometer as close to the valve as possible, then heat it gently with a hair dryer. The valve must remain closed at temperatures up to 38°C, begin to open at temperatures ranging from 38°C to 48°C, and open fully at 48°C. Let the valve cool down and check that it closes completely.
3. If the valve does not open at the specified temperatures or does not close, it must be replaced.
Emission Control Valve Replacement
1. Remove the air filter element following the instructions in subsection 6.1.2.
2. Disconnect the hose from the bottom of the valve, then unscrew the fixing screws and remove it from the air filter housing.
3. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
