Cable adjustment

The arrow indicates the direction of the force during adjustment.
Adjustment
1. Move the selector to position R.
2. Raise the front of the car and place on stands.
3. Make sure the transmission lever is also in the P position.
4. Loosen the nut securing the cable to the lever.
5. Pull the dynamometer on the lug of the cable end with a force of 0.7 kgf.
6. Remove the dynamometer and move the cable back 1.0 mm.
7. While holding the cable sheath, tighten the locknut.
8. Check the freedom of movement of the selector.
9. If the cable is bent when the selector is moved, repeat the adjustment.
10. Lubricate the friction surfaces of the cable and lever and lower the vehicle.
Removing
1. Raise the front of the car and place on stands.
2. Move the selector to position R.
3. Remove the center section of the front panel.
4. Turn away a nut, get a bracket of a cover of a cable and disconnect a cable from the selector.
5. Turn away a bolt and remove an arm, pull out a cable.
6. Turn away a nut on the lever, get a bracket from an arm and remove a cable. Keep in mind that the position of the lever on the transmission should not change when the cable is installed (mark the position of the lever before removing the cable).
7. Check the cable for signs of wear and damage.
8. Check the freedom of movement of the cable in the sheath. Be aware that the cable may bind when reinstalled, despite appearing to be easy to move when fully extended.
9. Replace cable if severely damaged.
Installation
1. Pass the cable through the floor and tighten the floor bolts.
2. Attach the cable to the selector and insert the cable sheath into the bracket.
3. Tighten the nut and insert the bracket.
4. Move the selector to the P position, make sure that the transmission lever is also in the P position.
5. Put the cable on the transmission lever.
6. Secure the cable sheath with staples.
7. Adjust cable.
8. Install the center section of the front panel, lower the car.
