Adjusting the cable

The arrow indicates the direction of force during adjustment.
Adjustment
1. Move the selector to position P.
2. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on stands.
3. Make sure the transmission lever is also in position P.
4. Loosen the nut securing the cable to the lever.
5. Pull the eye of the cable end with a dynamometer with a force of 0.7 kgf.
6. Remove the dynamometer and move the cable back 1.0 mm.
7. While holding the cable housing, tighten the lock nut.
8. Check the selector's freedom of movement.
9. If the cable bends when moving the selector, repeat the adjustment.
10. Lubricate the rubbing surfaces of the cable and lever and lower the vehicle.
Removal
1. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on stands.
2. Move the selector to position P.
3. Remove the center section of the front panel.
4. Loosen the nut, remove the cable sheath bracket and disconnect the cable from the selector.
5. Loosen the bolt and remove the bracket, pull out the cable.
6. Loosen the nut on the lever, remove the bracket from the bracket and remove the cable. Keep in mind that the position of the lever on the transmission should not change when installing the cable (mark the position of the lever before removing the cable).
7. Check the cable for signs of wear or damage.
8. Check the freedom of movement of the cable in the sheath. Keep in mind that when installing in place, the cable may jam, despite the apparent ease of movement in a fully straightened state.
9. If the cable is severely damaged, replace it.
Installation
1. Pass the cable through the floor and tighten the floor mounting bolts.
2. Attach the cable to the selector and insert the cable housing into the bracket.
3. Tighten the nut and insert the bracket.
4. Move the selector lever to position P, make sure that the transmission lever is also in position P.
5. Place the cable on the transmission lever.
6. Secure the cable sheath with staples.
7. Adjust the cable.
8. Install the center section of the front panel, lower the car.
