Checking the health of light bulbs
Apply the parking brake and turn the key to the "ON", without starting the engine. The following lamps will light up:
The following lights will flash on and off:
If any bulb does not light up, then this means that it has burned out or an open circuit has occurred. The problem should be corrected.
Engine oil pressure warning light
A lit light indicates low oil pressure in the engine. If the light flashes or stays on during normal driving, stop and shut off the engine immediately, then contact your Nissan dealer. Operating the engine with the oil pressure light on can result in engine failure.
The oil pressure light is not designed to indicate a low oil level. For this purpose, use the dipstick described in section "Engine oil".
Low battery warning light
If this light comes on when the engine is running, it indicates a problem with the battery charger. Stop the engine and inspect the alternator drive belt. If the belt is loose, damaged, or slipped, or if the light stays on, contact your Nissan dealer immediately.
ATTENTION! Do not continue driving if the belt is loose, damaged or slipped.
Warning light for low fuel level in the tank
The low fuel level indicator light comes on when approximately 6 liters of fuel remain in the tank.
Brake warning light
This light serves as both the parking brake indicator and the brake warning light.
Parking brake indicator
Indicates that the parking brake is applied.
A control bulb of low level of a brake liquid
When this light comes on, the brake fluid level is low. If this light comes on while the engine is running, stop the machine and do the following:
1. Check the brake fluid level. If necessary, add brake fluid. For information, see the section "Brake fluid".
Carefully! If the brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir is below the MINIMUM mark, then you should refrain from further movement until the brake system is checked by a Nissan dealer.
2. If the fluid level is correct: Have your Nissan dealer inspect the brake system.
CAREFULLY!
- Driving a vehicle with faulty brakes is dangerous. In this case, it is recommended to tow the car.
- A low brake fluid level can be caused by a malfunction in the brake system. In this case, the braking distance of the car may increase, and effective braking requires more force when pressing the brake pedal and its greater displacement.
Airbag warning light
When the ignition key is turned to position "ON" or "START" this bulb lights up for 7 seconds and then guesses. This means that the device is in working order.
The vehicle should be taken to the nearest Nissan dealer for airbag inspection in any of the following cases:
1. The airbag light does not go out as described above.
2. The lamp flashes or does not go out.
3. The light bulb does not light up at all.
Without checking and correcting these problems, the correct operation of the additional security system cannot be guaranteed. For more information on airbags see in chapter 2.
Open door warning light
The light is on when one of the car doors is not tightly closed when the ignition is on.
Warning light for low fluid level in the wiper reservoir (if available)
When this light comes on, it indicates that there is not enough fluid in the windshield wiper reservoir. The tank should be filled with washing liquid. To do this, refer to the chapter "Operations performed independently".
Control lamp of anti-blocking system
If the light comes on while the engine is running, this indicates a problem with the anti-lock brake system. Contact your Nissan dealer.
Anti-lock brake system (ABS)
serves to prevent the wheels from locking during heavy braking or braking on slippery roads. This helps the driver maintain control and minimizes the risk of skidding and turning on slippery roads.
In the event of a malfunction in this system, the anti-lock may not function, but the brakes themselves continue to work normally.
If the light comes on while driving, contact your Nissan dealer.
Overdrive Disable Indicator
Illuminates when the overdrive switch is set to the "OFF Q" (off).
Turn signal and hazard warning indicator
Starts flashing when turn signals or hazard warning lights are on.
High beam indicator (blue)
Lights up when you turn on the high beam headlights and goes out when you switch to the low beam.
Control lamp of work of the engine (for petrol engine models)
This bulb simultaneously functions as a control for an anti-theft device "NATS V2.0" and as an indicator of interruptions in the operation of the engine.
Anti-theft warning light:
If the light flashes when the ignition is on, this indicates a malfunction of the anti-theft device (blocker) Nissan - NATS V2.0.
In this case, you should contact your Nissan dealer as soon as possible and provide them with all the keys to the car.
Engine operation status indicator light:
If the light comes on while the engine is running, this indicates a problem with the electronic engine control system. Although the vehicle remains in working order, contact your Nissan dealer as soon as possible. Long-term operation of the machine without checking and repairing the engine control system can lead to a decrease in the dynamic and high-speed qualities of the car, an increase in fuel consumption and to the failure of this system.
Improper operation of the engine control system can lead to an increase in exhaust gas emissions to a level unacceptable by established emission standards for harmful substances.
Glow plug warning light (for diesel engine)
This light comes on when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" and goes out as soon as the glow plug is heated. A cold engine has a longer warm-up time.
If the lamp continues to burn after the candle is heated, then this means a malfunction in the igniter. This usually happens in cold climates. Have a Nissan dealer inspect the glow plug.
Control lamp for the presence of water in the fuel filter (for diesel engine)
If the light comes on while the engine is running, drain the water from the fuel filter. To do this, refer to the section "Fuel filter".
Driving with water in the fuel filter can damage the engine.
Headlight reminder buzzer
The buzzer sounds when the driver's door is opened and the ignition is turned off with the headlight switch on. Turn off the headlight switch before leaving the car.
Rear fog light reminder buzzer
The buzzer sounds when the driver's door is opened and the ignition is turned off with the rear fog light switch on (or ignition key in position "ACC" or "OFF"). Turn off the rear fog light switch before leaving the car.
