Checking the serviceability of light bulbs
Set the parking brake and turn the key to the "ON" position without starting the engine. The following lights will come on:
The following lights will flash on and off:
If any bulb does not light, it means that it has burned out or there is a break in the electrical circuit. The fault must be corrected.
Engine oil pressure warning light
When the light is on, it indicates low engine oil pressure. If the light starts to flash or stays on while the vehicle is in normal operation, stop the vehicle and turn off the engine immediately, then contact your Nissan dealer. Operating the engine with the oil pressure light on may cause engine failure.
The oil pressure light is not intended to indicate low oil level. For this purpose, use the dipstick described in the section "Motor oil".
Low battery indicator light
If this light comes on while the engine is running, it indicates a problem with the battery charging system. Stop the engine and inspect the alternator drive belt. If the belt is loose, damaged, or slipped, or if the light remains on, contact your Nissan dealer immediately.
CAUTION: Do not continue driving if the belt is loose, damaged or has slipped.
Low fuel level warning light
The low fuel indicator light comes on when there is approximately 6 liters of fuel left in the tank.
Brake system warning light
This light serves both as an indicator of the parking brake and as a warning light for the brake system.
Parking brake indicator
Indicates that the parking brake is engaged.
Low Brake Fluid Warning Light
When this light comes on, it indicates that the brake fluid level is low. If this light comes on while the engine is running, you should stop the car and do the following:
1. Check the brake fluid level. If necessary, add brake fluid. For information, refer to the section "Brake fluid".
Caution! If the brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir is below the MINIMUM mark, do not drive the vehicle until the brake system has been checked by a Nissan dealer.
2. If the fluid level is normal: Have your Nissan dealer inspect the brake system.
CAREFULLY!
- Driving a car with faulty brakes is dangerous. In this case, it is recommended to tow the car.
- Low brake fluid levels may be caused by faulty brake systems. In this case, the vehicle's braking distance may increase, and more force and pedal travel will be required for effective braking.
Airbag warning light
When you turn the ignition key to the "ON" or "START" position, this light comes on for 7 seconds and then blinks. This means the device is in working condition.
The vehicle should be taken to the nearest Nissan dealer for airbag inspection under any of the following conditions:
1. The airbag light does not go out as described above.
2. The light blinks or does not go out.
3. The light bulb does not light at all.
Without checking and correcting these faults, the correct operation of the supplemental restraint system cannot be guaranteed. For further information on airbags, see in chapter 2.
Door open indicator light
The light comes on when one of the car doors is not closed tightly when the ignition is on.
Windshield washer fluid low level indicator light (if any)
When this light comes on, it indicates that there is not enough fluid in the windshield washer reservoir. You should fill the reservoir with cleaning fluid. To do this, refer to the chapter "Operations performed independently".
Anti-lock braking system indicator light
If the light comes on while the engine is running, it indicates a problem with the anti-lock brake system. Contact your Nissan dealer.
Anti-lock brake system (ABS)
serves to prevent the wheels from locking during sudden braking or braking on a slippery road. This helps the driver maintain control and minimizes the risk of skidding and spinning on a slippery road.
If there is a problem with this system, the anti-lock brakes may not function, but the brakes themselves will continue to work normally.
If the light comes on while driving, contact your Nissan dealer.
Overdrive cut-off indicator
Illuminates when the overdrive switch is set to the "OFF Q" position.
Direction indicator and hazard warning lights
Starts flashing when the turn signals or hazard warning lights are turned on.
High beam indicator (blue)
Lights up when the high beam headlights are turned on and goes out when the low beam headlights are turned on.
Engine running indicator light (for models with petrol engine)
This light simultaneously functions as a control light for the "NATS V2.0" anti-theft device and as an engine misfire indicator.
Anti-theft device indicator light:
If the light flashes when the ignition is on, this indicates a malfunction of the anti-theft device (blocker) nissan company - NATS V2.0.
In this case, you should contact your Nissan dealer as soon as possible and provide him with all the keys to the car.
Engine status indicator light:
If the light comes on while the engine is running, this indicates a problem with the electronic engine control system. Even if the vehicle remains in working order, you should contact your Nissan dealer as soon as possible. Prolonged operation of the vehicle without checking and repairing the engine control system may result in a decrease in the vehicle's dynamic and speed characteristics, an increase in fuel consumption, and failure of the system.
Incorrect operation of the engine control system may result in increased exhaust emissions to levels unacceptable by established emission standards.
Glow Plug Indicator Light (for diesel engine)
This light comes on when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position and goes out as soon as the glow plug warms up. In a cold engine, the glow plug warms up more quickly.
If the light stays on after the glow plug has warmed up, there is a problem with the igniter. This usually happens in cold climates. Have your Nissan dealer inspect the glow plug.
Fuel filter water presence indicator light (for diesel engine)
If the light comes on while the engine is running, you need to drain the water from the fuel filter. To do this, refer to the section "Fuel filter".
Driving with water in the fuel filter may cause engine failure.
Headlight reminder buzzer
The buzzer sounds when the driver's door is opened and the ignition is turned off while the headlight switch is on. Before leaving the car, the headlight switch should be turned off.
Rear fog light reminder buzzer
The buzzer sounds when the driver's door is open and the ignition is turned off (or the ignition key is in the "ACC" or "OFF" position) with the rear fog light switch on. Before leaving the car, turn off the rear fog light switch.
