Removing
Attention.
- Before starting work, turn off the ignition, disconnect both battery terminals and wait at least three minutes.
- When servicing the airbag system, do not work directly in front of the airbag module to be away from the airbag.
- Do not use air or electric tools to remove the air bag module.
1. Insert a blunt instrument (A) with a diameter of not more than 5.0 mm into holes (left and right) to release the fasteners.
2. Press the locking clips (1) up to release the driver's airbag module from the steering wheel.
3. Remove the airbag module assembly.
4. Disconnect the driver airbag module harness connector and the horn button connector. Remove the driver's airbag module.
Note.
- To install/remove the airbag module connector, insert the tip of a thin screwdriver wrapped with electrical tape into the groove, lift the retainer and remove the connector.
- Install the connector with the latch raised, then press the latch into the connector. Make sure the connector is securely installed.
- After installing the connector, make sure that the latch is firmly pressed in.
Installation
Installation is made in an order, the return to removal.
Attention.
- Be careful not to damage the wires when installing the airbag module.
- If a malfunction is detected and the airbag system warning light comes on, reset the self-diagnosis function and clear the memory using the CONSULT-III diagnostic tool.
- After completing the work, check for system faults by looking at the airbag system warning indicator.
