Removal
Attention.
- Before starting work, turn off the ignition, disconnect both battery terminals and wait at least three minutes.
- When servicing the airbag system, be careful not to work directly in front of the airbag module or be in the airbag area.
- Do not use pneumatic or electric tools to remove the airbag module.
1. Insert a blunt-nosed tool (A) with a diameter of no more than 5.0 mm into the holes (left and right) to release the clamps.
2. Press the retaining clips (1) upwards to separate the driver's airbag module from the steering wheel.
3. Remove the airbag module assembly.
4. Disconnect the driver's airbag module wire connector and the horn button connector. Remove the driver's airbag module.
Note.
- To install/remove the airbag module connector, insert the tip of a thin screwdriver wrapped in electrical tape into the slot, lift the retainer and remove the connector.
- Install the connector with the lock raised, then press the lock into the connector. Make sure the connector is securely installed.
- After installing the connector, make sure that the lock is pressed securely.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Attention.
- Be careful not to damage the wires when installing the airbag module.
- If a malfunction is detected and the airbag warning indicator lights up, reset the self-diagnosis function and clear the memory using the CONSULT-III diagnostic tool.
- After completing the work, check for system malfunctions using the airbag system warning indicator.
