Removing
Attention:
- Before servicing the SRS system, turn the ignition key to the «OFF», disconnect both cables from the battery and wait at least 3 minutes.
- Work from the side of the driver's airbag module.
- When servicing, do not use air or power tools.
1. Remove the side covers.
2. Remove the special bolts on the left and right sides (see fig.).
special bolt (bolt TORX T30): Tightening torque: 9.3 Nm (0.95 kg m)
3. Disconnect the intermediate wiring connector from the steering wheel switch.
4. Disconnect the wiring connector from the airbag and remove the driver's airbag module.
Attention:
- When connecting/disconnecting the connector from the driver's airbag module, insert a flat-blade screwdriver wrapped with tape into the slot, pry up the retainer, and disconnect the connector.
- Connect the connector with the retainer pressed out, then press the retainer into the connector.
- After installing the connector, make sure that the latch is fully pressed in.
- Place the driver's airbag module with the steering wheel pad facing up.
- Do not insert foreign objects (screwdrivers, etc.) to the driver's airbag module.
- Do not attempt to disassemble the driver airbag module.
- After unscrewing, do not use old bolts; replace them with new ones.
- Do not expose the driver airbag module to temperatures above 90°C.
- If the driver's airbag module has been dropped or hit, replace it.
- Do not allow oil, grease, or water to come into contact with the driver's airbag module.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Attention:
- Carry out work from the side of the airbag module.
- When servicing, do not use air or power tools.
- After completing the work, carry out self-diagnosis and make sure that no faults are found.
