Removal
Attention:
- Before servicing the SRS system, turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position, disconnect both battery cables, and wait at least 3 minutes.
- Perform work from the side of the driver's airbag module.
- Do not use pneumatic or power tools when servicing.
1. Remove the side covers.
2. Unscrew the special bolts on the left and right sides (see fig.).
Special bolt (tORX T30 bolt): Tightening torque: 9.3 N·m (0.95 kg·m)
3. Disconnect the intermediate wiring connector from the steering wheel switch.
4. Disconnect the airbag wiring connector and remove the driver airbag module.
Attention:
- When connecting/disconnecting the connector from the driver air bag module, insert a flat-tip screwdriver wrapped with tape into the slot, pry up the retainer, and disconnect the connector.
- Connect the connector with the lock released, then press the lock into the connector.
- After installing the connector, make sure the lock is fully pressed in.
- Place the driver's airbag module with the steering wheel pad facing up.
- Do not insert foreign objects (screwdrivers, etc.) into the driver's airbag module.
- Do not attempt to disassemble the driver's airbag module.
- After unscrewing, do not use old bolts; replace them with new ones.
- Do not expose the driver airbag module to temperatures above 90°C.
- If the driver's air bag module has been dropped or impacted, replace it.
- Do not allow oil, grease or water to come into contact with the driver air bag module.

Installation
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
Attention:
- Perform work from the side of the airbag module.
- Do not use pneumatic or power tools when servicing.
- After completing the work, perform self-diagnosis and make sure that no faults are found.
