- Before starting the engine, check the levels of all operating fluids (motor oil, coolant, etc.). If necessary, bring fluid levels back to normal.
- Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position (without starting the engine). Pressure will begin to build up in the fuel lines, check for fuel leaks in the connections.
- Start the engine. Increase the engine speed and check again for fuel leaks in the connections.
- Check for extraneous noise and vibration while the engine is running.
- Warm up the engine thoroughly and check for leaks of fuel, engine oil or other operating fluids.
- Remove air from hydraulic systems.
