Electric fan — removal, inspection and installation (Nissan Sunny B13)

On all injection engines, the fan is switched on by the processor control unit, under the influence of a temperature sensor, which is screwed into the intake manifold (from the side of the chain cover). On vehicles with carburetor engines, the fan turns on when the thermal switch that is screwed into the thermostat cover is triggered. On vehicles with air conditioning and / or automatic transmission, two fans are provided.

Only the simplest check is allowed on your own.

Examination

1. Warm up the engine and let it idle.

2. The fan should turn on after no more than 2 minutes (the temperature indicator arrow should be at the edge of the red sector).

3. Otherwise, stop the engine and disconnect the connector from the fan.

4. If the fan does not turn on when 12V is connected directly to the connector terminal, then the electric motor is faulty.

5. If the fan turns on when voltage is applied directly, the wiring, control unit or thermal switch is faulty (see the check procedure in subsection 4.6.1).

6. The remaining checks are performed at the car service center.

Removal

1. Disconnect the battery from ground.



2. Disconnect the connector from the electric motor.





3. Loosen the screws, lift and remove the fan assembly with the casing.

Installation

Installation is carried out in reverse order.
