Checking for leaks
1. Clean the surface where the leak is suspected (for example, the joint surface of the torque converter and gearbox housings).
2. Start the engine, press the brake pedal, move the selector to position D and wait a few minutes.
3. Stop the engine.
4. Check for fresh fluid leaks.
Checking the condition of the liquid
| Abnormal color of liquid | probable cause |
| Dark or black with a burning smell | Wear of friction material |
| Milky pink | Water admixture. Water from the road may have entered through the filler tube or breather |
| Light to dark brown, sticky liquid | Oxidation due to re-singing, decreasing or increasing the level |
