Position P
1. Set the selector to position P and start the engine. Stop the engine and repeat the procedure in all selector positions, including neutral.
2. Stop the vehicle on a slight incline and place the selector in position P. Release the parking brake and make sure the vehicle remains stationary.
Position R
1. Move the selector from position P to position R and pay attention to the clarity of switching.
2. When reversing, check for slippage or other abnormal symptoms.
Position N
1. Move the selector from positions R and D to position N and pay attention to the clarity of switching.
2. Release the parking brake with the selector in position N. Lightly depress the accelerator pedal. The car should not move. (If the vehicle is new or the clutches have recently been replaced, it may move slowly. This is not a sign of a malfunction.)
Position D
1. Move the selector from position N to position D and pay attention to the clarity of switching.

2. While driving in position D, determine the speeds at which upshifting and downshifting occurs. This must be done at three different throttle positions (slightly open, half open and fully open). If the shifting is accompanied by jerks, determine the moments when they occur.
3. Check that the lock operates correctly when driving in the appropriate gear and speed.
4. Make sure that upshifting is not possible when the OD switch is set to the OFF position.
5. Set the selector to position D ₃ and drive at a speed of 60-70 km/h, pressing the accelerator pedal no more than halfway. Press the accelerator pedal fully and make sure that the gear shift from 3rd to 2nd gear occurs.
6. Set the selector to position D ₂ and drive at a speed of 25-35 km/h, pressing the accelerator pedal no more than halfway. Press the pedal fully and make sure that the shift from 2nd to 1st gear occurs.
Position 2
1. Move the selector to position 2 and make sure that the car starts moving in first gear.
2. Increase speed. The gearbox should shift to 2nd gear.
3. As you continue to increase speed, make sure that there is no further shift to 3rd gear.
4. Set the selector to position 2 and drive at a speed of 25-35 km/h, pressing the accelerator pedal no more than halfway; Press the pedal fully and make sure that the gear shifts from 2nd to 1st.
5. Release the accelerator pedal, switching to engine braking mode. Make sure the transmission shifts to first gear.
6. Set the selector to position D and at a speed of 30-40 km/h move it to position 2. Make sure that the gear shifts to 2nd gear.
Position 1
1. Set the selector to position 1 and accelerate the car. Make sure that the gearbox does not shift to 2nd gear when accelerating.
2. While driving in position 1, release the accelerator pedal. When moving, engine braking should be clearly felt.
3. Set the selector to position D or 2 and at a speed of 15-25 km/h move it to position 1. Make sure that the gearbox has shifted to 1st gear.
Shift speeds
Before checking, warm up the gearbox oil to a temperature of 50-80°C by driving for about 10 minutes. Speed tables are provided in the section "Data for adjustments and control".
