Clutch working disc
1. Measure the play of the clutch disc but the splines of the input shaft. If the value obtained exceeds the established norm (see «Service data and specification at the end of the chapter), replace the clutch disc with a new one.
2. Measure the axial runout of the clutch disc at the diameter specified in the specifications. If the value obtained exceeds the established norm (see «Service bottom and specification» at the end of the chapter), replace the clutch disc with a new one.
3. Measure depth «A» rivets relative to the working surface of the disk, using a caliper depth gauge. If the value obtained exceeds the allowable wear (see «Service data and specification» at the end of the chapter), replace the clutch disc with a new one.
Clutch pressure plate
With the clutch pressure plate installed on the vehicle, check the height of the protrusion of the diaphragm spring petals. If the height of the protrusion of the petals or the difference between the petals in terms of the height of the protrusion exceeds the established norm (see «Service data and specification» at the end of the chapter), adjust the height of the protrusion of the petals, using a special tool (ST20050240).
Check the thrust ring of the clutch pressure plate for wear or damage. If defects are found, replace the clutch pressure plate with a new one.
Note.
- Worn Thrust Ring Makes Beating Sounds (like a hammer on a rivet).
- A broken thrust ring makes a clacking sound due to the shaking of the clutch pressure plate.
- If there are signs of burning or discoloration of the contact surface of the clutch pressure plate, it is necessary to treat the surface with sandpaper. If the surface is damaged or deformed, replace the clutch release plate assembly with a new one.
