Caution: Apply fresh engine oil to the parts marked in the figure before installation.
Removal
1. Remove the following parts:
- Battery ground cable.
- Protective engine sump.
- Right front wheel.
- Right headlight.
2. Remove the right side splash guard.
3. Remove the engine cover.
4. Remove the intake air duct and electronic throttle valve.
5. Remove the vacuum pump.
6. Remove the air intake pipe.
7. Remove the accessory drive belt.
8. Remove the rocker arm cover.
9. Support the engine from underneath using a hand jack or equivalent.
Note: Place a wooden block or something similar as a support surface to ensure a completely fixed position.
10. Remove the timing belt.
11. Remove the camshaft covers.
12. Remove the camshaft.
13. Remove the valve lifters.
Installation
1. Install the valve lifters.
2. Install the camshaft.
3. Install the camshaft covers and tighten the bolts to 11 N·m in the sequence shown in the figure.

4. Screw the threaded rod of the special tool [KV113B0230 (Mot.1632)] into the end of the camshaft.

5. Install the old oil seal onto the camshaft.
6. For a new oil seal, place the mandrel with the oil seal on the camshaft, being careful not to touch the oil seal.

7. Install the cover (E) and shoulder nut (F) of the camshaft oil seal press tool [KV113B0230(Mot.1632)].

8. Screw in the shoulder nut until the cover touches the cylinder head.

9. Install the vacuum pump.
10. Install the camshaft timing pulley with the locking pin (Mot. 1606-A) (A).

11. Install the timing belt.
12. Subsequent installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
