Examination
1. Place the selector lever in position "R" and turn the ignition switch to position "ON" (do not start the engine).
2. Make sure that the selector lever can be switched from the position "R" to all others with the brake pedal depressed. Also check the movement of the selector lever from the position "R" only when the brake pedal is depressed.
3. While moving the selector lever, make sure that there is no excessive resistance, jamming, noise or crackling.
4. Verify that the selector lever is perceptibly delayed in each position as it moves through all positions. Check the display of the current position of the selector lever on the indicator plate and the corresponding position of the selector lever on the gearbox housing.
5. The correct way to move the selector lever to each of the individual positions must be as shown in the figure.
black arrow: to move, press the selector lever button with the brake pedal depressed.
gray arrow: non-selector lever button pressed to move.
white arrow: the selector lever can be moved without pressing the button.
6. Pressing the button of the selector lever in positions "R", "FT or "N" without using force to move the selector lever forward/backward, check that the buttons function without jamming.
7. Make sure that the reversing lights only come on when the selector lever is moved to the "R". Verify that the reversing lights go out when the selector lever is moved from the "R" into the provisions "R" or "N".
8. Make sure that the engine can only be started when the selector lever is in the "R" or "N".
9. Make sure the automatic transmission is fully locked in position "R".
10. If the selector lever is moved to the manual shift slot of the gearbox, make sure that this mode is displayed on the instrument cluster. By moving the selector lever to the side "+" and make sure you shift gears.
Adjustment
1. Place the selector lever in position "R".
Attention. After turning the wheel at least ¼ turn, activate the parking lock.
2. Loosen the nut indicated by the arrow in the figure.
3. Place the shift lever on the gearbox in position "R".
4. Tighten the nut.
Attention. Fix the shift lever when locking the nut.
