2. Check for any fluid leaks from the gearbox.
3. Before starting to drive, the fluid level must be checked using the COLD marks on the measuring rod (fluid temperature from 30 to 50°C).
- a. Park the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
- b. Start the engine and move the selector through all positions. Return the selector to position P.
- c. The fluid level is checked with the engine idling.
- d. Remove the dipstick and read the reading. If the fluid level is at any of the lower marks, add fluid through the filler tube.
- e. Insert the rod back into the filling tube to its maximum depth.
- f. Remove the dipstick and read the reading. If the fluid level is at the lower end of the range, add fluid through the filler tube. Do not exceed the maximum level.
4. After 5 minutes of driving in city conditions, check the fluid level at the HOT marks.
5. Check the condition of the fluid. If the fluid is very dark, has a burning smell, or contains particles of friction material, check the operation of the transmission. (Checking the automatic transmission is described in the relevant chapter).
Automatic transmission fluid replacement
1. Warm up the fluid in the gearbox.
2. Stop the engine.
3. Drain the fluid through the drain hole and fill the gearbox with new ATF.
Always fill with the same amount as was drained. Full filling volume (with torque converter) and brands of liquid are given in the section "Recommended lubricants and operating fluids". Tightening torque of the drain plug 29-39 Nm.
4. Start the engine and let it idle for 5 minutes.
5. Check the fluid level and condition. If the fluid remains dirty, replace it again.
