Park the machine on level ground, apply the parking brake properly, and block the wheels with chocks to prevent the machine from moving unintentionally. Shift the gear lever to neutral ("N") position, and for models with automatic transmission, set the selector lever to the position "R" (parking).
Do not work under the engine hood while the engine is still hot. Be sure to turn off the engine and let it cool down.
Before attempting to replace or repair any components, make sure the ignition key is in the "OFF" (off) or "LOCK". In key positions "ON" or "ACC" The cooling fan may come on unexpectedly even if the engine is not running.

Do not disconnect or connect battery wires or electrical connectors with the ignition on.
On petrol models with electronic fuel injection, the fuel filter and fuel lines should only be serviced by a Nissan dealer. This is because the fuel lines are under high pressure even when the engine is off.
Failure to follow these and other generally accepted safety precautions may result in an accident or damage to the machine.
Spilled engine oil and other automotive fluids on the ground cause damage to the environment.
Local regulations for the disposal of automotive fluids must be observed.
