When checking the drive belts, be sure to turn off the ignition (key in the "OFF" position).
1. Visually inspect each belt for signs of fraying, cuts, twisting, or looseness. If the belt webbing is defective or if the belt is loose, have it replaced or adjusted by a Nissan dealer.
2. Check the condition and tension of the belts regularly in accordance with the maintenance schedule in this manual.
GA and SR engines
1. Check the belts for cracks, delamination, wear and oiling. Replace belts with the indicated defects.
2. Check the belt tension by measuring the deflection at the points shown in the figures. Adjust the tension if necessary.


It is necessary to check the belt tension on a cold engine (no earlier than 30 minutes after it stops).
