The cars are equipped with dual-circuit hydraulic brakes, a vacuum booster and a rear brake pressure regulator (KlSLV - valve). The regulator is designed to unlock the rear wheels under conditions of sudden braking. It operates under the influence of the pressure difference in the front and rear brake circuits in response to a change in the load on the vehicle.
The front brakes are disc brakes, equipped with a two-piston or single-piston sliding caliper.
The rear brakes are disc or drum. The gaps between the pads and drums are automatically adjusted when the handbrake is engaged. The design of the rear disc brakes is almost no different from the design of the front ones. The handbrake is equipped with a cable drive, and is engaged by a lever.
