Attention.
- Use only a vacuum cleaner to clean the brake caliper and pads. Do not use compressed air.
- Do not press the brake pedal with the brake pads removed, as this may result in brake fluid leaking.
- If brake fluid or grease gets on the brake disc, remove it immediately.
Removal
1. Remove the wheel from the car.
2. Loosen the lower guide pin bolt.
3. Suspend the caliper body using suitable wire so as to prevent stretching of the brake hose.
Attention.
- Avoid deformation of the brake pad holders when removing them from the caliper bracket.
- Avoid damaging the piston dust boot.
- Do not drop brake pads, linings or lining covers.
Check after removal
If there is excessive rust on the surfaces, replace the brake pad gaskets and covers with new ones.
Remove rust from brake pad holders and caliper bracket. If there is excessive rust, replace the parts with new ones.
Installation
1. Install the brake pad holders onto the caliper bracket if they were previously removed.
Attention.
- Install the brake pad retainers securely so that they do not protrude above the caliper bracket.
- Be careful not to deform the brake shoe holders.
2. Apply copper-based brake grease to the contact surfaces between the pads, linings and lining caps, then install them onto the brake pads.
Caution: Replace the gaskets and caps with new ones every time the brake pads are replaced.
3. Install the cylinder body with brake pads on the caliper bracket.
Attention.
- Be careful not to damage the piston dust boot.
- When replacing brake pads with new ones, it is necessary to take into account that when the pistons of the working brake cylinders are pressed, some of the brake fluid returns to the expansion tank. Therefore, in order to prevent fluid from leaking out of the tank due to overflow, it is necessary to remove some of the fluid before carrying out work.
Note: It is recommended to use a special device to press the brake piston into the cylinder.
4. Install the lower guide pin bolt and tighten to the specified torque.
5. Press the brake pedal several times to ensure that there is no jamming in the brake mechanisms.
6. Install the wheel on the car.
Adjustments after installation
Brake bedding procedure
The bedding-in of new brake surfaces is carried out according to the procedure described below after grinding or replacing the brake disc, pads, or in the event of the brake pedal sinking over a short distance.
Attention.
- Care must be taken to control the speed of the vehicle, as unbedded brake pads will not provide the required braking performance.
- Perform the described procedure on safe roads with low traffic. Exercise extreme caution.
1. Drive your car onto a straight, level road.
2. After accelerating the car a little, press the brake pedal hard for three to five seconds until the car comes to a complete stop.
3. Drive for a few minutes without pressing the brake pedal to allow the brakes to cool.
4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 until the brake disc is completely bedded in.
