Checking brake pad wear
Check the thickness of the brake linings through the test hole in the caliper body. If necessary, use a tape measure or caliper for measurements.
Note. Maximum allowable thickness of brake linings (front and rear brakes): 2.0 mm.
Checking the brake disc
Check brake disc surfaces for uneven wear, cracks and severe damage. If necessary, replace the brake disc with a new one.
Brake disc runout
1. Using wheel nuts, secure the brake disc to the wheel hub at two or more points.
2. Using a dial gauge, check disc runout.
Note. Before checking disc runout, check that the wheel bearing end play is correct.
Note. Maximum allowable runout (measured 10.0 mm from the edge of the disc): no more than 0.035 mm.
3. If the runout exceeds the maximum limit, find the position of the minimum runout by moving the brake disc relative to the wheel hub by one hole.
4. If the runout of the disc is still not correct, grind the disc without removing it from the car with a special machine ("MAD, DL-8700", "AMMSO 700 and 705" or equivalent) until the required value is obtained, or replace the disk with a new one.
Brake disc thickness
1. Using a micrometer, check the thickness of the brake disc. If the thickness of the disc is less than the maximum allowable, replace it with a new one.
Note.
Nominal Disc Thickness:
- Front brakes: 24.0 mm.
- Rear brakes: 8.0 mm.
- Maximum allowable wear unevenness (measurement difference at eight points): no more than 0.02 mm.
