Breather hose — disassembly (Nissan Serena C24)

Pinion clutch assembly

1. Remove the 7 drive gear clutch mounting bolts.

2. Tap the flange with a plastic hammer and remove the pinion clutch assembly.

3. Remove the drive pinion clutch adjusting shim.

4. Unscrew the drive gear nut.

5. Using a punch (special tool) press the drive gear out of the clutch.

6. Remove the drive gear assembly.

7. Remove the O-ring.

8. Using a screwdriver or similar tool, remove the oil seal.

Caution: Do not damage the pinion clutch.

9. Remove the inner race of the rear bearing of the drive gear.

10. Using a puller (special tool) remove the outer race of the rear bearing of the drive gear.

10. Using a puller (special tool) remove the outer race of the rear bearing of the drive gear.

11. Using a puller (special tool) remove the outer race of the front bearing of the drive gear.

12. Remove the spacer from the drive gear.

13. Using a special tool, press out the inner ring of the front bearing from the drive gear.

Adapter body

1. Unscrew the adapter body mounting bolts.

2. Remove the adapter housing by tapping it lightly with a plastic hammer.

3. Remove the O-ring.

4. Using a screwdriver or similar tool, remove the oil seal.

Attention: Do not damage the adapter body.

5. Using a brass pin or similar tool, tap the adjusting washer through the slot in the adapter housing. Remove the adjusting washer and the outer race of the ring gear bearing.

6. Remove the oil pan.

7. Unscrew the drain plug.

Drive gear assembly

1. Remove the adapter housing.

2. Remove the drive gear assembly from the transfer case housing.

3. Using a punch (special tool) and a suitable puller, press out the inner ring gear bearing race from the adapter housing side.
