Attention! The knock sensor is a very fragile instrument and will fail if dropped or hit. The knock sensor is located on the back of the cylinder block.
Removing
1. To gain access to the sensor, apply the handbrake to the vehicle, then raise the front of the vehicle and place it on stands. The sensor can be accessed from below the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Then disconnect the sensor connector.
4. Loosen and remove the bolt securing the sensor to the cylinder block and remove it from underneath the car.
Installation
5. When installing, check that the mating surfaces of the sensor and cylinder block are clean and dry.
6. Install the sensor so that its connector is facing the right side of the engine, then install the mounting bolt and tighten it to the required torque.
7. Check that nothing else is touching the sensor, then lower the vehicle to the ground and reconnect the battery.
