Adjusting the secondary shaft bearing preload (Nissan Almera N15)

Adjustment of the secondary shaft bearing preload is required when replacing the following parts:

• secondary shaft;
• secondary shaft bearings;
• clutch housing;
• gearbox housing.

1. Remove the gearbox housing cover, then remove the sealing and spacer rings, adjusting ring and outer ring of the secondary shaft rear bearing.

2. Install the secondary shaft assembly into the clutch housing.

3. Connect the clutch and gearbox housings. Tighten the bolts to the torque specified in Section "Clutch and gearbox housings".

4. Place the outer ring on the bearing.



5. Use a depth gauge to measure the distance from the outer surface of the crankcase to the bearing ring. Make sure the bearing is seated correctly.

6. Select the adjusting ring (see section "Data for adjustments to control").

7. Check the total torque of resistance to rotation (see section "Assembly").
